What Makes Boutique Boarding Different…
People often ask what makes boutique boarding different.
For us, it isn’t just about having fewer dogs. It’s about being able to truly get to know each one.
We’ve intentionally chosen to keep our numbers small because we believe every dog deserves individual attention. When you’re caring for a large number of dogs, it’s much harder to learn who they really are. We want to know what makes your dog comfortable, what they enjoy, what makes them nervous, how they like to play, and when they simply need a little quiet time.
One thing I’ve learned after more than 20 years of caring for dogs is that no two dogs are alike.
Sure, genetics play a part, but a dog’s environment shapes them too. Think about it. A dog that lives with three young children is going to have different experiences than a dog living with a retired couple. Some dogs spend all day with people, while others spend several hours home alone. Some have always been around other dogs. Others haven’t. Some are confident the minute they walk through the door, while others need time to look around before they’re ready to join in.
That’s why we don’t believe in a one-size-fits-all approach.
Instead, we take the time to learn each dog’s personality. Some dogs want to wrestle and play all day. Others are perfectly happy relaxing nearby and watching everything that’s going on. Neither is right or wrong. They’re simply different, and we believe they should be cared for accordingly.
Keeping our camp small also helps create a calmer environment. Dogs naturally bark and communicate with one another—that’s completely normal. But when you have large groups of excited dogs together, that energy can build quickly, and many dogs begin to feed off one another. For some dogs, especially those who are shy, older, or simply more laid back, that can become overwhelming.
By keeping our numbers intentionally small, we’re able to create an environment where dogs can play, rest, build friendships, and simply be themselves.

We love shy dogs! Many dogs are naturally shy or take longer to feel comfortable in new environments. This can happen for many reasons, including limited socialization, genetics, past experiences, or simply their individual personality.
At Snuggles & Hugs, we take the time to help shy dogs adjust at their own pace. We never force interactions. Instead, we focus on creating positive experiences, building trust, and introducing new situations gradually so your dog can gain confidence as they become more comfortable.
For dogs who need extra support, we also offer individualized one-on-one sessions for an additional fee. These sessions are customized to your dog’s needs and are incorporated into their daily schedule while they’re in our care.
Our goal is to help every dog feel safe, comfortable, and successful while enjoying their time at camp.
As our dogs get older, their needs begin to change. They may not move as quickly as they once did, they may need medication, extra potty breaks, softer bedding, or simply a quieter place to relax. That’s why senior dogs deserve care that’s tailored to them.
At Snuggles & Hugs Active Dog Camp, we believe boarding should never be a one-size-fits-all experience. Before your dog’s stay, we take the time to learn about their daily routine, feeding schedule, medications, mobility, sleeping habits, and anything else that helps them feel comfortable at home. The more we know, the better we can care for them.
One of the biggest advantages of our boutique boarding experience is that we intentionally limit the number of dogs in our care. Smaller groups allow us to spend more time with each guest, notice changes in behavior, and provide the individualized attention that senior dogs often need.
Some senior dogs still love to play, while others are happiest relaxing in a quiet space and watching the activity around them. We respect each dog’s personality and never expect every dog to enjoy the same routine. We believe a successful boarding stay is one where your dog feels safe, comfortable, and cared for.
If your dog takes medication, has arthritis, experiences hearing or vision loss, or simply enjoys a slower pace, we’ll work with you to understand their needs before they arrive. Our goal is to maintain as much of their normal routine as possible so their stay is as comfortable and stress-free as we can make it.
We know how difficult it can be to leave an older dog while you travel. Many of our clients tell us they worry more about their senior dogs than they do about anything else. We understand that feeling because we know they’re family.
That’s why we care for every senior dog with patience, kindness, and the attention they deserve.
Our boutique environment allows us to provide individualized attention instead of treating every dog the same. Yes! We encourage familiar bedding and toys — familiar scents comfort your dog. We also provide blankets and toys. An old t-shirt with your scent works wonderfully. Pre-bag your dog’s food labeled by day and meal.
Bringing your puppy to day camp for the first time is exciting, but it’s also a big experience for them. Everything is new—the sights, the sounds, the smells, the people, and the other dogs. Just like children, every puppy reacts differently.
Some puppies walk through the door ready to explore everything. Others are more cautious and prefer to watch before joining in. Neither reaction is right or wrong. It’s simply part of your puppy’s unique personality.
At Snuggles & Hugs Active Dog Camp, we don’t believe every puppy should be treated the same. We take the time to get to know your puppy and let them adjust at a pace that’s comfortable for them. We never force interactions or expect a puppy to immediately jump into a group.

That’s why we focus on creating positive experiences, building trust, and helping puppies gain confidence one step at a time.
Because we intentionally keep our camp small, we’re able to spend more one-on-one time with new puppies. We can observe how they communicate, how they respond to new situations, what motivates them, when they need a break, and when they’re ready to interact with other dogs.
Our goal isn’t simply to tire your puppy out. Our goal is to help them develop into a happy, confident, and well-socialized adult dog through positive experiences.
We also believe that rest is just as important as play. Puppies are still growing and learning, and they need downtime throughout the day. That’s why our daily schedule includes a midday rest period, giving puppies the opportunity to relax before more fun in the afternoon.
Before your puppy’s first visit, we’ll talk with you about their personality, previous social experiences, routine at home, and any concerns you may have. The more we know about your puppy, the better we can help them succeed.
Every puppy is different. Some settle in quickly. Others need a few visits to build confidence. We respect that process because we’re not interested in rushing your puppy—we’re interested in helping them have a lifetime of positive experiences around people and other dogs.

Yes — absolutely! There’s a limited window in your puppy’s development to engage with other balanced dogs. We encourage you to bring the young ones — the sooner the better. Puppies are welcome as long as they meet our vaccination requirements.
Dogs who attend camp regularly stay familiar with our facility, staff, and other dogs — which dramatically reduces stress during overnight stays. Our goal is ultimate comfort and minimum stress. Dogs love what’s familiar and get stressed over what’s not!
Every visit includes fresh food & water, playtime, lots of love and attention, medication administration if needed, litter box scooping, text updates with photos, mail & newspaper pickup, alternating lights and blinds for home security, and a journal of your pet’s behavior and eating habits.
Regular pet sitting visits are available between 7–9am, 11am–3pm, and 7–9pm, 7 days a week. Additional fees apply outside of these regular hours.
Yes — we can administer oral medications during our visits. Please provide clear instructions and have all medications properly labeled.
We start with an initial consultation in your home — about 30–45 minutes. We’ll meet you and your pets, tour your home, collect keys, and go over all the details including services, fees, and policies. Please have your client forms printed and completed before this visit.
Yes! We care for dogs, cats, and small animals. No membership is required for any of our in-home pet care services.
Yes! Pet sitting clients receive text updates and photos after every visit so you always know your pet is safe, happy, and well cared for.
Each 20-minute walk includes the walk itself, fresh water, and playtime for $25 per pet. Walking increases your dog’s mental and physical health, reduces boredom, improves socialization, and helps with weight control. You’ll come home to a more relaxed and happy dog!
Cancellations made by 12 noon the day prior to service will not be charged for that day. Full charge will apply if cancelled after 12 noon the day before or same day of service.
Our Pet Chauffeur service is available for clients who need their dog picked up and dropped off — whether for camp, boarding, or other appointments. Contact us for availability and rates.
Dog walking is offered Monday through Friday. It’s the perfect midday solution for dogs who need a break during your work day.
No membership required! Dog walking is an at-home service available to all clients. Simply fill out the Dog Walking Profile Form to get started.
